FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Will you copy a design I like from a photo?
All of our designs are original, as is your celebration. Our goal is always to create the cake of your dreams while respecting the proprietary rights of another designer's work. The Pastry Studio will not copy another company’s design but we are happy to create a unique design for you based on an idea that you like. We frequently see attempts to copy our original designs and, although we encourage inspiration from great design, abuses occur without our permission. If you like our work, please come see us.
What is your payment policy?
A 50% deposit is required to hold your date. When we receive your deposit, we are then reserving you a time slot. Final payment is not due until two weeks prior to your event. You can pay with a check, credit card (Master Card and Visa) or cash. Cake orders placed with less than two weeks notice require payment in full. Please be aware deposits are non-refundable due to our tight schedule for each event.
Do I need to return the cake stand and base?
We rent out our wonderful cake stands to complete the look of your beautiful cake. A rental fee is required to cover the wear and tear of our stands. These items must be back in the studio within four days of your event or a late fee will apply. If someone cannot return the rented items within our time frame, we can pick them up for a nominal fee. This arrangement must be made before the day of your event.
What is your delivery and set up fee?
It is very important that each cake is set up correctly and safely.
Our fees depend on the distance from the studio and the assembly required. Delivery and set up fees are additional and are calculated at an hourly rate – round-trip. On average we charge $25.00 every fifteen miles.
Do you ship your cakes?
We do not ship our cakes yet we do ship our Decorated and Gourmet cookies. (See our cookie section for pricing and packaging ideas).
Can you make cakes or cookies for people with dietary restrictions?
Call us with your special request and we will accommodate if at all possible. Due to our tight schedule it is difficult to alter our recipes for specific diets. We can accommodate people that have nut allergies.
Can I have a display cake and serving cake in the back?
Usually our display cakes take, as much time to do as our edible cakes, so the savings is minimal. If you are have a very large number of guests (over 200) we then like to provide serving cakes to minimize time spent cutting and serving your guests. If your cake design is larger than five tiers we will include the use of fake cakes to provide proper support. At the time of your appointment we will discuss all of your cake design options.
When should I reserve my wedding date?
As soon as you have selected your reception site we suggest you give us a call. We often book one year out. Our weekends fill up quickly.
A General note to our brides:
Plan on cutting and serving the wedding cake immediately after dinner is served. It is very appropriate for this to be the dessert. Often your guests are waiting for the cake to be served; if they do not want to stay late they leave without tasting your wonderful cake.
